Location: Location: 33 miles E fountain hills
Trail Rating: 3.5

Description:
Stock vehicles can reach Sunflower mine. The hard parts start after the mine.
Sunflower mine (a mercury mine) still stands, its the large building at the bottom of the hill, just past gps cord #3 (make a hard left and go up the hill). There is a mine shaft at this turnoff. Fairly deep mine shaft.
After the mine, the road narrows. Becomes rocky as your twist and turn through the river bed. Then you'll come to a switchback with a nasty hill to start with. Then hold on for a steep uphill climb with loose rocks. once your reach the top of the hill there's 3 trails to choose from. its the trail to left on the right side marked 201A. Road isn't too bad from there out. Once you near gps point 6 you'll see TWO mines on the left side. The first one has water leaking out of it. the second one has a small openeing, but its very very long and forks to the left and right. Be sure to bring a spot light.

Remember to Tread lightly!

How to Get There:
Take highway 87 north and turn left on road marked 'to sycamore creek' .06 miles from mile marker 222. Follow paved road 1.2 miles to the bottom of hill and turn right (the first cattle guard you see) on FS25. Then make a left at the fork. You will return via the road to the right.
