Description:

Scenic trip along the Mogollon Rim, North of Payson, Arizona. This trail is about 2 hours North of the Phoenix Valley area.
Rim Road is well maintained and in good weather conditions, is traveled by passenger cars. Best views can be obtained through trails, such as Milk Ranch Point, which require a more aggresive vehicle (4x4 recommmended)Offers an abundance of camping oppurtunities and is a photographer's dream.

How to Get There:

From Mesa, take SR 87 north to Payson. Remain on SR 87,(remain going North through the light in Payson) passing through Pine and Strawberry, you will reach the Rim Road (FR 300) in approximately 20 minutes.There is also a sign on your right hand side for Kohl's Ranch, Knoll Lake. A great side trail, where 4x4 is recommended is to Milk Ranch Point.(FR 218A)

Or, take SR 260 out of Payson, topping the Mogollon Rim, then turn left at the Rim Road (FR 300).
The Rim Road is mostly unpaved, with washboard in spots, but does not require a 4x4.(In summer).
Winter conditions can be quite dangerous, with packed snow and ice.
