| Description: |
|
Lower Ajax wash crosses and continues along portions of the road to the Ajax Mine. It is the typical "wash;" for the most part you cross over and around the rock obstacles. There are a few 2 - 4 ft. waterfalls or narrow rock areas to find your way over or through but there are several by-passes. The wash is set among the rolling hills below the Ajax Mine. This trail is fun and a challenge for the moderate 4-wheeler, although this trail is not for the inexperienced driver nor a stock vehicle. A rear Traction Device, and 31" + tires are required Remember to Tread lightly! |
| How to Get There: |
| Ajax can be found in southern Arizona, about 15 miles northeast of Florence. From highway 79 take the dirt road heading east between mile markers 144 and 145. The approximate location of the trailhead (you really ought to get the topo map) is 33 degrees, 12 minutes, 20 seconds north, 111 degrees , 11 minutes, 30 seconds west. Approximate, because the trail wanders in and out of the wash and crosses adjacent roads. |
